National Para Athletics Championship 2024, Purple Fest - Goa, is a vibrant celebration of athleticism, teamwork, & unbridled enthusiasm. The air is charged with the spirit of competition as para-athletes showcase their prowess in a kaleidoscope of Track & Field Para events. Beyond the competitive edge, Purple Fest fosters a sense of camaraderie, where participants forge bonds that extend beyond the track. 

The purple colours of jerseys, the palpable energy, and the collective pride made Purple Fest a spectacle that transcends mere athleticism – it's a celebration of human potential, unity, & the sheer joy of pushing one's limits.

National Para Athletics Championship 2024, enthralling in a sporting calendar promoting athleticism and teamwork, 
The National championship, which is a qualifying competition for the upcoming Paris Paralympics & World Championship, will see around 1000 para-athletes, many from all over India to compete across around 180 events based on their para sports medical classification.

Medical Classifiers for Orthopaedic, Visual & Intellectual Impairment, 200 Support Staff, 150+ Technical Officials, 300+ Volunteers.
The 4 Days event marked with Arrivals of Para Athletes, Support Staff, Classifiers, Technical Officials, Coaches, Volunteers
On the Day of Arrivals, The Para Athletes were provided accessible transportation, and they were given accessible Hotel rooms and transportation from their rooms to Stadium, 

The Para Athletes were subjected to medical examination & Para Sports classification based on their disability for New & Review Classes, and Accreditation cards were provided their Chest Numbers were given, Lunch & Dinner were provided during championship days in the Canteen - SAG Athletics Stadium.

Opening Ceremony:
The proceedings National Para Athletics Championship 2023 commenced. & being declared open in the presence of Chief Guest, Shri. Govind Gaude, Sports Minister, Goa, Guests of Honor Shri. Subhash Phal Dessai - Social Welfare Minister, Goa, & Shri. Vijay Sardesai – Former Deputy Chief Minister, Goa, & presided by Dr. Deepa Malik, President Paralympic Committee of India, they were warmly welcomed by Shri. Gursharan Singh, Secretary General, Paralympic Committee of India, other dignitaries, at SAG Athletics Stadium, Goa. 
March Past by Para-Athletes from their respective state organisations & NCC Cadets, Goa showcasing discipline & coordination.
The proceedings concluded with a harmonious rendition of the National Anthem, accompanied by the resounding Beating of the Retreat by the National Cadet Corps (NCC), adding a majestic touch to the grandeur of the occasion.

The International Purple Fest Goa 2024 is akin to a vibrant extravaganza brimming with merriment. It serves as a unifying force, building connections between individuals and fostering the creation of cherished memories. Para Athletes congregate, friends exchange radiant smiles, and an atmosphere of pure bliss envelops all.

The athletics events on the Paralympic programme includes:
Track events: sprint (100m, 200m, 400m); middle distance (800m, 1500m); long distance (5,000m)
Field events: high jump, long jump, discus, shot put, javelin, club throw.

The running race, a thrilling sprint in track event, epitomizes the fusion of speed and endurance. Para Athletes are grouped together according to their classification in each event. Some compete in wheelchairs and some with prostheses, while those who are vision impaired can receive support from a sighted guide. There are also events for athletes of short stature and for those with an intellectual impairment.

The event was smoothly conducted by Technical Staff of all the mentioned Track & Field para sports events, wherein the athletes competed with great stamina and vigour trying to one up each other.

The para-athletes exploded from the starting point, accelerating through the curve of the track with powerful strides and precision in this race conducted for Visually intellectual & Orthopaedic impairment sports classes.
Competitors compete in specialized wheelchairs which allow the athletes to reach speeds of 30 km/h or more. nail-biting and passionately contested fast wheelchair racing usually comes in a kneeling position - is all about stamina and willpower, as was shown by the athletes, thus giving testimony to their fighting spirit.

3 Days of Competitions was conducted smoothly, Games Start List & Time Table were announced early, and Games Results were displayed on notice board, on Daily Basis and Thereafter, awarded in the Athletics Stadium on the same day, the medals & prize & certificate distribution ceremony wherein the Best sportsperson in the Women Category award was presented to Ms. Jayanthi Behara T47 of Odisha for bagging 3 Gold Medals in 100m 200m & 400m Track Running Race, 
Best sportsperson in the Men Category award was presented to Manoj Kumar Sabhapati T54 of Tamil Nadu - 3 GOLDS - 100M, 400M, 800M - Running Race.

and the Trophy for Top Medals Tally for State Organisations. First Place award to Haryana, Second Place Trophy to Tamil Nadu, Third Place Trophy to Uttar Pradesh,

Closing Ceremony: 13th January - The curtains were brought down on a memorable National Para Athletics Championship 2023, celebrating the incredible achievements of the athletes from state, UT and SSCB for 3 days of fierce sporting competition, 
The event came to its end, the gathering was then graced with an address from the Chief Guest, Shri. Subhash Phal Dessai - Social Welfare Minister, Goa, & wherein he congratulated all the Para Athletes for their stellar performance and coaches for training the disabled athletes. He also highlighted the fact that Purple Fest is India’s First-of-its-kind inclusive festival that celebrates persons with disabilities, invites all of them to a world of boundless possibilities, where unity takes canter stage, and diversity is celebrated with open arms.

Purple Fest was brought by the Office of the State Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa, Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa and Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. 21 types of disabilities listed under the RPwD Act, 2016, along with the significant inclusion of Spinal Cord Injury.

Guest of Honor, surprisingly thrilled to have the Beautiful and Charismatic Bollywood Kerala Files Fame, Lead Actress Ms. Adah Sharma 
This was followed by a presentation of a memento to the esteemed Chief Guest & Guests of Honor, by the Shri. Gursharan Singh, Secretary General of PCI & Shri. Sathyanarayana – Para Athletics Chairperson,  

As the programme drew to a close, the PCI Secretary General Shri. Gursharan Singh proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who worked tirelessly to make the mega event possible.
