Sportsmanship

National Shooter and have represented the Air Force and Defence services at various National competitions and was a manager/coach of the Indian Shooting Team for the year 1996-97. I was a member of Governing Body of National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), secretary of Western Air Command Sports Control Board and Joint Secretary of Services Sports Control Board (SSCB). .

Deputy Director (Protocol) during the 1982 Asian Games and was responsible for the accreditation of all the Sportsmen and Delegates participating in the Games and was actively involved with the managing committee in organising and facilitating the various events. For my contribution towards the Asian Games in 1982, I was awarded the Chief ’s commendation. I have held the post of Directing Staff (DS-Coordination, National Defence College – New Delhi.
Post superannuation from the Indian Air Force was selected as Registrar of Aligarh Muslim University at Aligarh. The journey above has most humbly given me specialisation in sports and academic administration.
Positions Held:
  • 2012 - 2014
    Registrar, Aligarh Muslim University, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India As the designated Custodian of the University, I was responsible for the entire administration, regulatory/legal functions.
  • 2009-2011
    Directing Staff (Coordination) at National Defence College 6, Tees January Marg, New Delhi As a coordinator for training Defence Services Officers (Brigadier and Above), Civil Servants (Joint Secretary) and Foreign Defence Officers and was responsible for their training on Strategies and Structures on National Security.
  • 2007- 2009
    Group Commander, National Cadet Corps, New Delhi As the Commander and Supervisor of 10 NCC Units, I was actively involved in organising and conducting various Inter and Intra Directorate Sports Championships/Events and was involved in administering all activities ranging from Republic Day Parades to National Level Camps.
  • 2005-2006
    Chief Administrative Officer, Air Force Station Hindan, Ghaziabad, U.P As the Chief Administrative Officer, I managed assets worth $150 million. I was responsible for managing the infrastructural set – up of the Air Force base. I also organised various sports tournaments at the Air Force Station & Intra-command and was actively involved in preparing the teams for various sports disciplines.
  • 2004 -2005
    Officer In- Charge Air Force Marksmanship Centre Established and set up the first Air Force Marksmanship Centre at Air Force Stations Hindan and trained the first batch of Air Force Personnel for the Pre – National and National Championships. Led the Team to win gold medals at the Pre – National Championships.
  • 1999- 2000
    Navigational Leader I Led the Para Troopers Training School (PTS), sole institution training Army personnel as paratroopers. It is also a solitary unit of Air Force to have a Sky Diving team and personally Performed a Sky Dive Jump from 13,000 Ft.
  • 1997- 1998
    Joint Secretary Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), New Delhi As the Joint Secretary, I was involved in organising, planning and preparing all Services Teams enabling them to participate at the International and National Level. I represented the country as coach and manager of the Indian Shooting Team at the Asian Championship at Brunei and Commonwealth Championship at Langkawi (Malaysia).

    Secretary Western Air Command (WAC) Sports Control Board Was instrumental in performing and overseeing the important functional activities of all sports Disciplines under the WAC so as to prepare the Teams to participate and succeed at the Air Force Championships.
