Paralympic Committee of India ® (PCI) has been steadfastly growing in number of disciplines and in its
commitment for the glory of para sports in the country.
The Championship offers valuable oppurtunities to the participants to express themselves in a wide variety of competitions, This is essential for the full flowering of their personalities, Apart from enabling them to display their sporting skills, it will also symbolise their inclusion & acceptance in the society at large.
The objectives of Paralympic Committee of India is to promote Para Sports for the Differently Challenged (Divyang) of our country, Identifying the disabled sports persons at an all India Level, imparting necessary training to them and prepare them to take part in State, National & International Sports meets is the major activity of our organisation.
Paralympic Movement is our Motto.
Paralympic Committee of India is promoting the para sports in a very systematic manner & Institutional in getting the coveted Awards for the Physically Challenged sports persons, since 1995 the prestigious Awards viz., Padma Shri Awards, Arjuna Awards, Dronacharya Awards, Dhyan Chand Awards, & many other State level Awards also.
Such events provide an excellent oppurtunity to the differently abled sports persons to showcase their talent.
Their Participation is tribute to their courage, strength and ability to over come physical limitations and challenges.
We can only make progress if we ensure that athletes are at the centre of everything we do

Haryana Government is committed to promote sports in a big way in the state. Therefore, Govt. has implemented a new sports policy "Haryana Sports and Physical Fitness Policy - 2015" with an aim to increase awareness amongs people about significant benefits of physical activity and the practice of sports in development of overall human personality.
I am sure, this tournament will inspire many others to take interest in sports and enable them to join the main stream.

Athletic Meets provide excellent oppurtunities to the differently abled (Divang) sports persons to exhibit their talent and channelize their energy. Through PCI and State Paralympic Committees / Federations efforts are being made to provide facilites and recognision to para sports persons at par with main stream sprots persons. I welcome all para sports persons from other states on the soil of Haryana and convey my good wishes to the participants for their excellent performance. I wish all success to the 16th National Atheltics Paralympic championship - 2016
I compliment the State Association for organizing this prestigious event, which will go a long way in promoting sprots for differently abled sports persons in the country.
This event will give them right platform to hone their skills and showcase their talent at the National level.

As per the amended PCI Constitution and Bye Laws in compliance with the
direction of IPC, the following guidelines have been framed for its
implementation regarding Athletes’ Representation:
The PCI will include representation of Paralympic athletes in the PCI decision-making bodies as described below:
Allow athletes to elect two Governing Board Members
Athletes will nominate two Governing Board Members (1 Male and 1 Female) that will represent them with voting and speaking rights, the representing members may not necessarily need to be an athlete.
Athlete’s representation in the Governing Board
PCI will form an Athletes’ Council. In general, the role of the Athletes’ Council is to provide feedback and advice and report to the Board on behalf and in the interest of the athletes in all PCI matters. Once this Council is formed, the following will apply:
- Nomination procedures should mirror those of the IPC Athletes’ Council.
- The Athletes’ Council has the right to submit motions to the General Assembly, through the Governing Board.
- The PCI’s Athletes Council will establish a relationship with the IPC and/or Region’s Athletes Council.
- The PCI, may make provisions for gender/impairment/sport representation in the Council.
Panchkula March 26: Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal today announced to give cash awards to the winners of Paralympics at par with those of the winners of the Olympics.
The Chief Minister who was declaring open the 5-day 16th Senior National Para Athletic Championship-2016 in Panchkula today said that the Government has already decided to give a Rewards of Rs Six Crore to the Gold Medal Winner of Paralympics, Rs four crore to Silver Medal Winner and Rs 2.5 crore to Bronze Medal Winner.
The announcement by the Chief Minister was hailed with thunderous applause by all the participants representing over 20 States of the country. Such players would also be given facilities admissible to other players who win laurels in international competitions.
